It's going to be interesting next year for Two Rivers Conference. Got two strong programs fighting for the conference title.

Success breeds success. The guys wrestling these 3rd 4th year staters as their back ups have benefited immensely. You will probably see some drop off next season but not nearly as much as you might think. Having a winning program also attracks other top athletes into the sport. The young men at both Cleveland and Corinth Holders have laid a solid foundation for which they should be very proud. I wish both Cleveland and Corinth Holders much continued success!

Yep, they did. Amazing how these programs mirror themselves and they probably will again next year. We believe that the teams each school has this year will be the best team they will have for many years to come. Having to start wrestlers as freshman and sophomores and they wrestle together for 3 years like that has given some great results. I think both teams will be down a little next year but...you never know.

Corinth defeated Franklinton last night 48-16 to win the Northern Carolina 2A conference for the 2nd straight year. Franklinton was unbeaten in conference play as were the Pirates, until last night. Pirates finish 5-0 in conference and go undefeated in conference action 2 years in a row.

I have no idea which one, since I didn't go to the tournament. Gsmusty might know.

Was the JC tournament an indy or dual team?

Its good to see teams stepping up at the right time of the season.

Cleveland win a close Johnston County Wrestling Tournament over West Johnston (2nd) and Corinth Holders (3rd).

Corinth Holders defeated Roanoke Rapids (2nd time in a little over a week) and Princeton tonight on the first ever Senior Night to run their record to 32-4 and 5-0 in the conference. This marks the 2nd 30 win season in a row for the Pirates. Still a bit of wrestling to go with the County Tournament this weekend, 1 more conference match and the Conference Tournament next weekend. Its possible the Pirates will reach the 40 win mark for this season.

They forfeited all but 4 matches and one of them ended up not wrestling. According to the NC Wrestling Scorebook, they only have 8 on their roster. Bunn had a team like that 2 years ago but now has more than a full team. Hope its just a 1 season thing for them.

Its always disappointing to hear a team is struggling with numbers. Nobody wants that. The silver lining is C-H was able to pick up a win, get a lot of individual wins without picking up the bruises, pulls, and strains that are mounting up this time of year. Chalk it up, move on to the next one.

The Corinth Holders Pirates made the long trip to Louisburg only to find out that all but 4 of the schedule matches were to be forfeited by Louisburg. The Warriors wrestling team has had a rough time of it this year just trying to field a full team. Tonight, however, they were unable to and the Pirates ended up with a 78-6 victory to run their record to 19-2, 3-0.

Panther Creek is overlooked and under estimated around the state IMO. Several standout wrestlers to score well in tournaments and a pretty good line up throughout to be a tough dual team, I think PC will be right in the middle of a very close tough regional tournament with as good of a chance to win it as anyone.

Panther Creek went 5-0 at the Sanderson Duels this weekend including wins over West Johnson, Cleveland, and Northern Durham.

Um...we are going to be a touch um...less...next season. Coach W is going to have a lot of work to do. Same with Cleveland i believe.

Sanderson-Holly Springs was a good match with Holly springs coming out on top 40-18. Several hotly contested bouts!

Retro tournament team rankings have Holly springs ranked 7th in 4A and Cleveland ranked 4th in 2A. With the Mark Adams and WRAL this weekend the teams have a chance to prove themselves against GREAT competition.
