Nah, not at all :) Hard to believe that a 2A school in its 3rd year of existence can have a team like the traditional big boys do (Cary and Orange). Not that we are any where near them, but it takes a while to get your foot in the door.

I actually would put Southern in the same boat as Northern and Jordan being very strong at the top but with holes in the bottom. Knightdale turned out to be a very competitive tournament. I thought the best match of the finals was at 120 with Allison from PC beating Bray from Croatan.

We have been to the Croatan summer camp the last 2 summers. Its a whole different world down there than it is here. Its a year around gig with most of it being "club" wrestling but it is definitely year around.

gsmusty you have touched the key Year round. Almost every one of the top wrestlers are year round wrestlers. The top teams have many of their kids in year round clubs. MANY kids leave high school practice then head to club practice 3 times a week and go 4-5 times per week in the off season. It just makes sense a kid practicing year round will eventually be better than a November through March wrestler. The amount of time put in wrestling by the elite kids would boggle the mind of the vast majority of people. Between weight lifting, running, multiple practices per day all season long, off season practices and weekend tournaments (many kids get more than 100 matches in the off season) folks just cannot imagine the time put in to becoming the best they can be.

The number of wins and losses is not as important as who did you beat and to who did you lose. Tournament strength is a factor too. Some teams are much stronger in one than the other; See S Alamance last year. Runner up for 4A individual tournament team championship yet probably not a top 15 dual team. This is a top 10 TEAM, not dual team, not tournament team, but overall team rankings.
