Thank you for this forum
Asked about this nearly a year ago but glad its finally here. Wrestling is still a bit away off but there should be some very good teams returning for this coming year.
RE: Thank you for this forum
Who will be the top triangle teams this upcoming season? Can anyone challenge Parkland for the state championship? Who are some of the top individuals in the area?
Until I see something better, I think Cary will be the area's top dog. N. Durham has a couple of state runner ups returning and should be tough. Cap 8 could be wide open this year. Leesville maybe?? West Johnson will probably continue to be the team to beat out of the GNRC. Any other teams to watch?

I believe Orange was top dog last year. Dont know what they have returning. Cary should be strong as well. IMHO 2 of the top teams in this area will be Corinth Holders and Cleveland. Both ranked in the Top 10 last year and neither team will be losing any wrestlers. Corinth went 33-7 last year and i think Cleveland was just a shade under that.

At this point Orange is going to be a factor year after year. They have a great program and coaches over there and the feeder middle school has not lost a match in years.

I agree Orange will probably be the strongest team in the greater triangle areaa again this year. The defending state 3A champs look to repeat again this year and will probably the favorites to do so. They return a lot for tough kids and have coach that will keep that program at the top. They just keep churning them out.
Corinth Holders and Cleveland will sneek up on some folks this year. It seems both teams are really moving in the right direction. I hope to see them mix it up with some of the top programs in the area and see how they shake out. I haven't seen too much of them as a team this spring and summer to see how they are progressing. To be a elite program they need to roll year round. We'll see. They could both be sleepers.
Holly Springs coming off a 28-3 record last season looks to be tough as well. They might give Cary a tough match. I look forward to the N&O area top 20 teams this year. Lotta excellent teams around here. Unfortunately this area also has some VERY weak teams as well. Some programs are in baaad shape and not much effort has been put forth. Nobady likes to see teams flounder.

Corinth got their new coach this past week. Going to be somewhat of a depart in coaching styles from the previous coach to a more aggressive style. We will see. It helps not losing any wrestlers from the previous year.
I saw a number of Cary and Holly Springs wrestlers at a tournament a few months ago. Very good wrestlers on both sides.
