Coaches GONE Wild!

Coaches GONE Wild!

I cannot believe some information that I was just told about how some of these HS Coaches act behind CLOSED doors! How can Coaches expect their players to show good sportmanship if they don't? Let me back this up, how are Coaches even appointed/selected/hired or giving their job. I know that some Coaches have it really hard from parents coming at them before/during/ and after games, but what is done about how they act? Why are coaches taking it so personal and hating on players and other Coaches. First of all, these are children, and as the kids say "don't hate the player, hate the game"! Secondly, aren't Coaches suppose to lead by example? I really think that there needs to be a SHAKE up in the system for some of these Coaches. If Deran Coe is as efficient as they say he is, I really think he needs to CLEAN up some of these athletic programs, starting right here in good ole Wake Co.!

AGREED

RE: Coaches GONE Wild!

This happened to a kid I trained, because of his parents comments, he lost his starting spot. Many coaching programs can get corrupt.

RE: Coaches GONE Wild!

Totally Agree!

RE: Coaches GONE Wild!

I think it's really easy to blame a coach for stuff.

Parents, trainers, family members, club coaches, etc are focused in on one specific player. The coach of the team has to be focused in on the entire team. The coach coaches the TEAM. No coach is going to make a decision that he thinks is detrimental to the team. Period.

I don't know the specific situation (and please do not post it on here), but I am always going to be skeptical of claims of "corrupt" coaches, etc. Corruption usually happens because of money or power, there's not much of either to go around in high school athletics.

RE: Coaches GONE Wild!

As a fan I see a lot of spoiled players who ignore instructions from the coach during timeouts. They are looking everywhere but at the coach. They come out of the game sulking and throwing tantrums. Coaches do need to lead by example and the kids need to respect authority. However a lot of players I've observed seem to believe the world revolves around them and have no recognization of authority.

RE: Coaches GONE Wild!

Okay, let me clarify my post as best I can without naming any names with all due respect to all involved! Never did I say anything about "corruptness" I said that Coaches should NEVER get so personally involved to the fact that they HATE a player(s) or another Coach because of their accomplishments..

Coaches calling players out of their name, disrespecting each other(Coaches) and personally making it a point to slander another Coach and their Program is ridiculious!

@kmagnusson this had nothing to do with a player being spoiled or disrespectful, this POST was based on how a Coach has PERSONALLY disrespected a Coach and the players!

I'm sticking to my view point that Wake Co. Schools need to be cleaned up of some of these AD's and Coaches.

@ Nick Stevens no one is blaming a Coach for how they treated a player from their team, but on the sole basis of how a Coach has continuesly disrespected a Coach and the players.

RE: Coaches GONE Wild!

I agree, after all with such fine examples as local, state and national leaders, college coaches, professional athletes, college players, student sections, and most of all parents I find it hard to believe coaches can be so....."disrespectful". Pot meet kettle.

RE: Coaches GONE Wild!

.....oh and I forgot the fine example some of the posters on this forum are as well...

RE: Coaches GONE Wild!

@liberalismisadisorder, I agree with you whole heartly. However, when a player is awarded the opportunity to play on the college level thats basically a business. These high school coaches over step so many boundaries, they loose sight of what the real purpose is and what impact they may have on a child.

Even if you'll disagree with me, yes the bottom line is, winning! But thats not the only thing a Coach should concentrate on. What about teaching the player values of the game, respect for the game, being loyal to the TEAM as well as themselves. You can't teach that if you don't display that characteristic.

I will continue to stand on the fact that Wake Co needs to shake up some of these AD's and Coaches, they think that they are untouchable! If your program looses STAR athletes several seasons in a row, you have multiple complaints aganist you, why no one wants to play for you, or why you don't have enough players to make up a team, then your program needs to be looked upon.
