Southern Durham High School wide receiver Maurice Trowell has signed with North Carolina State University.
Trowell made his long-standing verbal commitment official on Wednesday, signing his National Letter of Intent with the Wolfpack.
This past season, Trowell helped lead Southern Durham to the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-AA state championship, posting over 1,000 receiving yards, including 198 yards and two touchdowns in the state championship game.
The performance in 2013 earned Trowell all-conference honors. He was also a participant in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.
Trowell stands at 6-foot and 185 pounds. He committed to the Pack one day after receiving an offer from head coach Dave Doeren.
At the time of his commitment in June, Trowell said, "I looked into their academics, and they have a good career path for me ... They have a new coaching staff and they really liked me. In 2014, we're going to set the tone."
Southern Durham's state championship season included a 14-2 overall record, and a perfect 7-0 mark in the Big Eight 3-A Conference.
