Virginia Tech offers Sanderson junior RB Trent Pennix

Raleigh, N.C. — Sanderson running back Trent Pennix has received a scholarship offer from Virginia Tech, the junior announced Thursday morning via Twitter.
The Hokies are the third Atlantic Coast Conference team to offer Pennix in the last week, joining Louisville and Wake Forest.
Pennix now holds offers from Akron, Appalachian State, Boston College, UNC-Charlotte, East Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Louisville, Maryland, Minnesota, Ohio University, Old Dominion, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Pennix led the Spartans last season in both rushing and receiving, tallying a team-high 1,538 all-purpose yards.
The standout junior tallied 167 carries for 1,215 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns, and 11 catches for 225 receiving yards and two scores.
Pennix averaged 7.3 yard per carry and 110.5 yards rushing per contest. He also averaged 23.2 yards per catch.
The multi-faceted Pennix led the Spartans in the return game as well, averaging 22 yards per kickoff and 18.7 yards on punt returns.
