Three Wake County coaches to lead all-star teams

Greensboro, N.C. — Three different Wake County coaches have been selected as head coaches for next summer's N.C. Coaches Association East-West All-Star Games.
Garner's Thurman Leach will coach the East football team, Cary's Laura Kerrigan will coach the East girls soccer team, and Apex coach David Neal will coach the East boys basketball team.
The 2018 all-star games will be held in Greensboro in July.
Leach has a number of familiar assistants. Southeast Raleigh coach Daniel Finn, Clayton assistant coach Brian Roach and Corinth Holders coach Guy Williams will all serve as assistants, along with Scott Gardner of Farmville Central and Eric Leary of White Oak.
The West football team will be led by East Forsyth coach Todd Willert. Assistants on the West team include Jason Adkins of East Wilkes, Jason Fowler of Olympic, Jeff Frady of Enka, Chris Miller of Southern Alamance and Lance Ware of Shelby.
Cary coach Laura Kerrigan was named the head coach of the East girls soccer team. Todd Spinell of Jay M. Robinson will be the West's girls soccer coach. On the boys soccer side, Croatan coach Paul Slater will lead the East while Matt Parrish of Salisbury will lead the West.
Neal will lead the East's boys basketball team and will be assisted by Thomas Johnson of Perquimans. Casey Rogers of Freedom will be the head coach of the West. Rogers will be assisted by Brian Carver of Enka.
Swansboro girls basketball coach Kim Miller was picked to coach the East girls basketball team. Jay Poole, North Johnston's girls basketball coach, will be the assistant coach. The West team will be coached by Rick Anderson of Mt. Tabor and Barbara Helms of Hickory.
Players for the all-star games will be named in the spring of 2018.
