The HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational brings in top high school basketball talent every year, and on Thursday night a few past players advanced their careers to the NBA.

Three Holiday Invitational alumni were selected in the NBA Draft on Thursday, and all three went in the first 14 picks. The three selected players were Nik Stauskas, Noah Vonleh and T.J. Warren.

Stauskas (Michigan) was selected eighth overall by the Sacramento Kings. He came to the Holiday Invitational in 2011 with Southborough (Mass.) St. Mark's. Stauskas earned all-tournament honors as he helped his team to a fifth place finish in the tournament.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and 205 pounds, Stauskas, a guard, averaged 17.5 points, 3.3 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game for Michigan. For his college career, Stauskas shot 44 percent from 3-point range.

The very next pick in the NBA Draft was also a Holiday Invitational alum. Vonleh (Indiana) was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the ninth overall pick.

Vonleh led his New Hampton (NH) team into the Holiday Invitational in 2012 and earned all-tournament honors as New Hampton fell to Word of God in the championship game. Vonleh was held to just seven points in the final.

At Indiana, the 6-foot-9 and 247-pound Vonleh averaged 11.3 points, 9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

Warren (North Carolina State) was selected by the Phoenix Suns with the 14th overall pick. Warren played in the HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational with both Riverside High School and Word of God Christian Academy. He earned all-tournament honors as a freshman at Riverside in 2009.

Warren averaged 24.9 points per game last season for the Wolfpack, shooting 52.5 percent from the field. He also averaged 7.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.1 assists per game.

Going into Thursday's NBA Draft there were 18 active NBA players who participated in the Holiday Invitational. Those players include Steve Blake (Los Angeles Lakers), Matt Bonner (San Antonio Spurs), Keith Bogans (Boston Celtics), Lorenzo Brown (Philadelphia 76ers), Reggie Bullock (Los Angeles Clippers), Luol Deng (Chicago Bulls), Chris Duhon (Los Angeles Lakers), Roy Hibbert (Indiana Pacers), Jarrett Jack (Cleveland Cavaliers), Ryan Kelly (Los Angeles Lakers), Mike Miller (Memphis Grizzlies), Mason Plumlee (Brooklyn Nets), Rajon Rondo (Boston Celtics), Josh Smith (Detroit Pistons), P.J. Tucker (Phoneix Suns), Charlie Villanueva (Detroit Pistons), John Wall (Washington Wizards), and David West (Indiana Pacers).

There are a number of Atlantic Coast Conference players who are still in college or who were not drafted on Thursday who also played in the Holiday Invitational. Those players include Garrius Adams (Miami), Anthony Barber (NC State), Staats Battle (NC State), Montay Brandon (Florida State), Chase Cannon (NC State), Quinn Cook (Duke), Luke Davis (UNC), DeMarus Harrison (Clemson), Isaiah Hicks (UNC), Madison Jones (Wake Forest), Matt Jones (Duke), Tyler Lewis (NC State), Kennedy Meeks (UNC), Ian Miller (Florida State), Charles Mitchell (Maryland), Josh Newkirk (Pittsburgh), Marshall Plume (Duke), Aaron Rountree (Wake Forest), Rasheed Sulaimon (Duke), Joseph Uchebo (Pittsburgh), Dez Wells (Maryland).

The 2014 HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational is slated for Dec. 26-30 at Broughton High School's Holliday Gymnasium. Teams attending the event will be announced later this year.

^^^^ Hear ya about Duke/UNC taking a lot of the spotlight, but while I'm a Carolina fan, I enjoy reading and keeping up with HS sports. My girls went to Leesville, so I still pull for the Pride. There was a time when Leesville had a very good basketball team, when Coach Rob was at the helm.
