For the second year in a row and for the third time in four years, Tarboro finishes the season as the No. 1 team in Tom Suiter's Fabulous 15 Poll.
Tarboro fell to East Lincoln in the 2-A state championship game on Saturday, 24-20. The Vikings had won three state titles in a row, and have been to five straight state championship games.
The Vikings will be presented with the Fabulous 15 championship trophy this week.
Jack Britt finished the season at No. 2 in the poll after losing in the 4-AA state championship game to Butler, 56-28. The Buccaneers made it to the state championship game by beating Richmond County and Garner on the road in the third and fourth rounds, despite losing two regular season games to E.E. Smith and Scotland County.
Carrboro finishes the season ranked No. 3 in the poll. The Jaguars lost to South Iredell in the 2-AA state championship game, 30-27. South Iredell scored with 19 seconds left to win the game.
