Some schools cancel after school activities due to Irma

Tropical Storm Irma is not expected to track through North Carolina, but the outer bands could create downpours and gusty winds on Monday and Tuesday.

That threat has caused some school systems to cancel after school activities scheduled for Monday, including athletic events and practices.

At this time, no changes have been made to the high school football schedule for week five.

Cumberland County Schools and Hoke County Schools each canceled all after school activities scheduled for Monday afternoon. Both school systems are otherwise in session with a normal class schedule.

Robeson County Schools are closing at 12 p.m. on Monday and all after school activities are canceled.

Bladen County Schools – Closed on Monday.

Columbus County Schools – Closed on Monday.

Cumberland County Schools – All after school activities canceled Monday.

Harnett County Schools – All after school activities canceled Monday.

Hoke County Schools – All after school activities canceled Monday.

Robeson County Schools – Closing at 12 p.m.; All after school activities canceled Monday.

Sampson County Schools – All after school activities canceled Monday.

Scotland County Schools – All after school activities canceled Monday.

Stanly County Schools – All after school activities canceled Monday.
