RE: 2013 Softball Chat

It's tough to believe that we are almost to the halfway point of the season. Any thoughts on who you think are the powerhouse teams are in the area ?
Maybe we will have some "warm weather teams" so up for the 2nd half.
A lot can change when a team plays a team for the second time.

RE: 2013 Softball Chat

Title IX has changed a lot of things in female sports, but it has not been enforced as well at the high school level. Wake County is a Title IX disaster waiting to happen. Wake County is really inconsistent with facilities in Softball in particular. Look for a complaint soon coming from parents and a couple of coaches.

RE: 2013 Softball Chat

Hello the county doesnt not take care of the fields, the coaches and booster clubs do. Might need to ask the schools why the field looks like they do? bet the football field looks good.If they tell you they dont get any help from the county, that is right and the schools who have nice fields dont either, they just have parents who will help take care of them.

RE: 2013 Softball Chat

That may be true but the legal responsibility lies with the county. Wake get's a lot of federal funding and that can be stopped if it is found that the county is negligent in fair funding for girls sports. While the schools do provide the resources to take care of the fields it is the ultimate responsibility of the district to ensure facilities are in "like" condition.

RE: 2013 Softball Chat

How much do you think they give to the schools, cause you would be very upset if you know. Less then 2000.00 for the whole year, and spread that around to all of the teams and see how much each team gets. There no rule saying they all have to be alike. Im coaching with someone who was in charge of the Fields a few years ago and they is no rule about looking alike. Its the school and the coach responsibility to keep the fields up. Why would you get funding for a Federal law Title IX is a law.

RE: 2013 Softball Chat

III. Treatment

This third compliance prong of Title IX requires equivalence in other athletic benefits and opportunities and includes all other program areas not previously covered. Title IX does not require that each men’s and women’s team receive exactly the same services and supplies, but it looks at the entirety of the treatment the men’s and women’s programs receive as a whole. The equivalence of overall treatment is measured on the basis of eleven criteria. We have listed them here and provided a brief explanation of the legal standard for each.

RE: 2013 Softball Chat

getting back on track, tomorrow nights East Wake/Clayton game should be a good one, 2 college bound pitchers battling it out.....the winner sits right behind Garner in the GNC
