The only win of the season for Smithfield-Selma is now a loss.
According to Johnston County Schools, Smithfield-Selma High School will forfeit its Oct. 5, win in football over Harnett Central High School due to the use of an ineligible player.
The forfeit will drop Smithfield-Selma's record to 0-10 overall and 0-6 in the Greater Neuse River 4-A Conference. The Spartans wrap up the season on Friday at Southeast Raleigh High School.
Harnett Central will move to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the Greater Neuse River.
Smithfield-Selma owns a 29-game losing streak in football. The last win for the Spartans came came on Sept. 3, 2010, when Smithfield-Selma defeated Pine Forest, 23-17.
