Extra Effort: Lindsey Sharpe, Nash Central (May 14, 2013) Nash Central's Lindsey Sharpe is one of the region's best softball pitchers who bats nearly .400. She is also a volleyball captain, an all-conference swimmer, an honor student and volunteers at a nursing home. She is this week's winner of Tom Suiter's Extra Effort Award. May 14, 2013
Extra Effort: Maura McDonnell, Green Hope (May 7, 2013) Green Hope's Maura McDonnell is an all-state track and cross country runner as well as a player on the Falcons' top-ranked soccer team. She excels in the classroom, too, and is this week's winner of Tom Suiter's Extra Effort Award. May 7, 2013
Extra Effort: Ariel Potter, Roanoke Rapids (April 30, 2013) Roanoke Rapids' Ariel Potter is a captain on the basketball, volleyball and soccer team where she is an all-region goalkeeper. Extra Effort: Bakri Abushouk, Cary (April 16, 2013) Cary's Bakri Abushouk is the 2012 State 4A cross-country champion, winner of the indoor 1,000, 1,600 and 3,200 meter events, and this week's winner of the Tom Suiter Extra Effort Award.
