Throughout the school year, WRAL-TV and Tom Suiter recognize one student-athlete each week who excels not only on the playing field but also in the classroom and in the community. If you would like to submit a nomination, fill out the form below.

Extra Effort: Damontay Rhem, East Wake (Sept. 11, 2014)
Tom Suiter recognizes East Wake's Damontay Rhem with the Extra Effort Award. The senior running back rushed for over 1,600 yards last year and he's over 300 yards in three games this season.

Extra Effort: Kendra Simmons, Southern Vance (Sept. 4, 2014)
Southern Vance High School's Kendra Simmons is a four-year starter on the volleyball team, a captain on the cheerleading squad and a starter on the softball team. She is also tops in her class academically and a volunteer tutor and is this week's winner of Tom Suiter's Extra Effort Award.

Extra Effort: Charity Snelling, Franklinton (June 3, 2014)
Franklinton High School's Charity Snelling won the state 2A high jump championship, the first state title by any team or athlete in the 90-year history of the school. She was also Homecoming Queen and is a member of National Honor Society and is this week's winner of Tom Suiter's Extra Effort Award.
