Ravenscroft senior Jimbo Barnes has verbally committed to play lacrosse at Furman.
Barnes, who plays midfield for the Ravens, was a co-captain and the TISAC Conference Player of the Year in 2012. He was also a 2012 NCISAA All-State selection and was All-Conference in 2011 and 2012.
During his junior year, Barnes led the Ravens in scoring with 42 goals and 11 assists en route to an NCISAA State Runner-up finish. He was also among the top five goal scorers for all schools in the Triangle in 2012. As sophomore in 2011, he recorded 26 goals and nine assists.
“Jimbo Barnes has had a dramatic impact on the culture of the Ravenscroft Varsity Lacrosse Team.” said Ravenscroft Head Coach Sandy Kapatos. “His commitment and dedication to fulfill the expectations of our program has set the bar for his teammates. His work ethic in the classroom and contributions on the lacrosse field have enabled him to attain the ultimate goal of every high school lacrosse player in the country, to play for a Division I program like Furman University. I’m very proud of Jimbo and confident that he’ll have a similar impact on the Furman program.”
