FINAL Upper Room 66 United Faith 61: After maintaining a comfortable lead the entire game, Upper Room Christian Academy came back for a victory over United Faith Christian in the third place game of the Summit Hospitality Bracket in the 2011 HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational.

Led by Rodney Purvis's 17 points and 12 points from center Tyrek Coger, the Eagles who led for a majority of the game found themselves down 56-55 midway thru the 4th quarter. However an 11-5 spurt to end the game would be enough to give Upper Room the victory.

United Faith, who is coached by former NBA great Muggsy Bogues, trailed a majority of the game by double digits. However a 12-2 run to begin the 4th quarter, spurred the Falcons to a lead of 56-55, their first lead since it was 3-2 early in the contest. The Falcons were able to get back into the game behind their 7-foot power, Indiana commit Peter Jurkin, who had a sequence of 5 straight points (Including 2 powerful dunks). Jurkin finished the game with 15 points and 15 rebounds.

United Faith was led in scoring by Braxton Obgueze's 20 points.

STATS

Upper Room

Rodney Purvis- 17 pts, 5 rebounds

Tyrek Coger- 12 pts, 9 rebounds

Keysheen Hinton- 9 pts

Faquan Dunn- 9 pts

Waymond Wright- 9 pts

Sharwyn McGee- 6 pts, 9 rebounds

Raphael Love- 4 pts

United Faith

Braxton Obgueze- 20 pts, 6 rebounds

Peter Jurkin- 15 pts, 15 rebounds

Zach Davis- 7 pts

Nehemiah Mabson- 7 pts

VJ King- 6 pts

Tahmir Gadsden- 4 pts

Jarrett Vaughn- 2 pts

END 3Q Upper Room 51 United Faith 44: Nothing much as changed here at Holliday Gymnasium as Upper Room continues to hold a comfortable lead over United Faith. United Faith did make a 6-0 run to end the quarter to tighten things up a bit heading to the 4th.

I've been real impressed with how the Eagles have been able to not let Peter Jurkin dominate inside the paint. Braxton Obgueze leads all scorers with 15 points.

HALFTIME Upper Room 40 United Faith 29: Upper Room is clicking on all cylinders thus far in the third place game of the Summit Hospitality Bracket against United Faith.

The Eagles have used a balanced scoring attack thus far with 7 different players scoring thus far, led by 7 points from NCSU commit Rodney Purvis. The Eagles are also doing a good job on the boards, outrebounding the Falcons by a 19-12 margin.

United Faith was led by 10 points from Peter Jurkin.

STATS

Upper Room

Rodney Purvis- 7 pts

Sharwyn McGee- 6 pts

Tyrek Coger- 6 pts

Faquan Dunn- 6 pts

Waymond Wright- 6 pts

Keysheen Hinton- 5 pts

Raphael Love- 4 pts

United Faith

Peter Jurkin- 10 pts, 6 rebounds

Braxton Obgueze- 7 pts

VJ King- 7 pts

Zach Davis- 4 pts

Tahmir Gadsen- 4 pts

END 1Q Upper Room 22 United Faith 11: The Eagles from Upper Room have raced out to a lead over the Falcons from United Faith.

The highlight of the half had to have been a one-handed Rodney Purvis dunk over 7-footer Peter Jurkin. The NCSU commit finished the quarter finished the frame with 5 points. Coupled with some sharp shooting from 3 point land from Faquan Dunn, the Eagles have been clicking on all cylinders early.

Braxton Obgueze leads the Muggsy Bogues-led Falcons with 5 points.

PREGAME: We are in Game 3 of the final day of the 2011 HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational as Upper Room Christian Academy and United Faith Christian battle for 3rd place in the Summit Hospitality Bracket. These are two teams that possibly saw themselves battling for a championship, but will look to leave Raleigh with a 2-1 record.

Upper Room, behind NCSU 2012 commit Rodney Purvis, are coming off a tough loss to super-talented Wesleyan Christian 56-50. Purvis struggled from the field, going for only 13 points on 5-15 shooting from the field.

United Faith had an even worse night from the field in a loss to Ravenscroft, 53-41. Braxton Ugobeze was the only United Faith player to finish in double figures, scoring 14. Zach Davis chipped in nine while Indiana recruit Peter Jurkin tallied 8 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks. The Falcons struggled throughout to find any consistent rhythm on offense and finished just 14 of 32 from the field.

Purvis is smooth...almost too smooth. He could project as a "one and done" kind of player so State fans better enjoy him while they can. Jurkin is vastly improved since the first time I saw him as a sophomore. He should be a servicable big man in college, but nothing more.
