Playoff brackets set, games start Monday

The N.C. High School Athletic Association released the state playoff brackets for boys and girls basketball on Saturday.

First round games will be held at the highest seeds on Monday.

Sites hosting single games will start the games at 7 p.m. If there is a double-header at a school, the first game will be played at 6:30 p.m., followed by the second game at 8 p.m. Teams can mutually agree to play at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The second round of the state playoffs will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, followed  by the third round on Friday, Mar. 1. The first three rounds are all played at the highest seeds.

Regionals begin Mar. 5. The Eastern Regionals are in Fayetteville at Crown Coliseum and Crown Arena, while the Western Regionals are in Greensboro at UNC-Greensboro and the Greensboro Coliseum.

State championships will be held at the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill and Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh on Saturday, Mar. 16.
