High Point Christian stifles Webb, Hicks to win 65-52

FINAL High Point Christian 65 Webb 52: The High Point Christian Academy Cougars managed to take home 3rd place in the Shavlik Randolph bracket after their convincing 65-52 win over Oxford Webb. Led by 22 points from big man Mike Kobani and 11 2nd half points from Jackson Kent, the Cougars were able to pull away from the Warriors after trailing 10-6 at the end of the first quarter.
A big problem for Oxford Webb was how High Point Christian was able to contain Webb standout Isiah Hicks. Hicks only was able to muster 12 points against a tough High Point Christian defense.Tyrek Beverly led the Cougars with 16 points.
END 3Q High Point Christian 44 Webb 30: High Point Christian has managed to stretch their lead to 14 as we head to the 4th quarter. The Warriors briefly cut the lead to 37-30, but High Point closed the quarter on a 7-2 spurt. Mike Kobani continues to lead all scorers with 16 points while the Cougars have done a great job of stopping Isiah Hicks to this point. Hicks only has 6 points.
HALFTIME High Point Christian 29 Webb 23: High Point behind big man Mike Kobani's 12 first half points have raced out to a lead over Oxford Webb after the first half. Webb only was able to muster 7 made field goals in the entire first half. The Cougars have done a great job of containing UNC recruit Isiah Hicks to just 5 first half points. The Warriors are being led in scoring by Tyrek Beverly's 9 points.
END 1Q Webb 10 High Point Christian 6: Both squads are out to a rough start as Webb is leading High Point Christian after 1. Tyrek Beverly is leading all scorers thus far with 5 points for the Warriors. High Point Christian has 3 players with 2 apiece thus far.
Pregame: Oxford Webb and High Point Christian are set to face off for third place in the Shavlik Randolph bracket of the HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational. Both teams are coming off tough losses and hope to leave the tournament, a respectable 2-1.
Webb finds themselves in the 3rd place game after a tough 70-57 loss to Raleigh Word of God. Webb fell behind early 18-9 after 1 quarter and were never able to complete the comeback. Webb has sported the best duo of the tournament thus far with Milton Terry scoring 53 points and UNC signee Isiah Hicks pouring in 48 points thru 2 games.
High Point Christian is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 68-51 loss at the hands New Hampton, NH. High Point was able to slow down Indiana signee Noah Vonleh, as he only scored 5 points, but it simply wasn’t enough. High Point Christian were led in scoring by Jackson Kent’s 14 points.
