FINAL: Broughton widens lead, cruises to 73-50 win

FINAL: Broughton 73, Person 50 : The Broughton Capitals built a sizable lead and never took the foot off the gas as they cruised to a 73-50 win over the Person Rockets in the first game of the Summit Hospitality Bracket.
Broughton's Devonte' Graham led all scorers with 23 points. Graham drained three 3-pointers and was a perfect 6-6 from the foul line. James Hemphill added 14 for the Capitals, who maintained a steady lead for the majority of the game. Person's Ty Outlaw led the Rockets with 15 points, but the effort was not enough to down a talented and team-oriented Broughton team.
Broughton will go on to play St. Joseph (New Jersey), who won a coin toss to advance in the bracket after their game was canceled due to inclement weather and travel difficulties. That game will be played on Friday at 4 pm. Person will face off against Holly Springs on Thursday at 11 am.
END 3Q Broughton 54 Person 42: After 3 quarters of play Broughton still holds onto a comfortable cushion against the Person Rockets. Devonte Graham continues to be the man, leading the Capitals charge. Person inched to within 10 points on a number of occasions but Broughton never let the lead get below single digits.
HALFTIME: Broughton 36 Person 24: In what was once a tight game, has turned into a Broughton domination in the 2nd quarter. Person closed it to 15-14 early in the 2nd quarter, but Broughton outscored the Rockets 21-10 to end the half.
Devonte Graham led all scorers with 14 points on 5-10 shooting. Tyrone Outlaw and Devin Scoggins each chipped in 8 points for the Rockets.
END 1Q Broughton 15 Person 12 : Led by some hot shooting by Appalachian State recruit Devonte Graham, the Capitals have raced out to an early lead against the Person Rockets. Graham scored unofficially 7 points in the first quarter showing off all facets of his game, whether it be scoring at the rim or from behind the 3 point arc.
PREGAME: We begin play in the Summit Hospitality Bracket with the host school Broughton Capitals facing off against the Person High School Rockets.The winner is tentatively scheduled to face the winner of St Joeseph/Holly Springs.
Broughton returns to the HighSchoolOT.com Holiday Invitational for a record 24th time looking to win their first tournament title since 1986. Broughton has a couple of division-I prospects leading their squad in Appalachian State recruit Devonte Graham and Navy recruit James Hemphill.
Person High makes their first tournament appearance since 1994. The Rockets are led by reigning PAC-6 Player of the Year Tyrone Outlaw Jr. The son of former standout, Tyrone Outlaw Sr, Outlaw Jr has committed to play for the UNC-Greensboro Spartans.
