There's a new No. 1 team in the boys basketball poll this week.

Person takes over the top spot after Millbrook suffered back-to-back losses to Knightdale and Apex last week. The Wildcats dropped to No. 9 in the poll.

The Rockets are 4-0 on the season, and have a big game on Friday against No. 3 J.F. Webb.

Broughton, Webb, Clayton and Green Hope round out the top five in the boys poll.

Smithfield-Selma dropped out of the poll this week after moving in at No. 10 last week. Wake Forest-Rolesville replaces the Spartans at 3-0 on the season.

Millbrook's girls basketball team remains ranked No. 1 in the girls poll with a 4-0 record. Broughton's girls moved into the poll at No. 7 with a 3-0 record. Sanderson dropped to No. 10 with a 2-1 record.

Panther Creek dropped out of the poll to make room for the undefeated Capitals.

It's worth noting that Person just got by the underappreciated (not unlike their football team) Orange High Panthers at home last night, 62-60. Orange had the ball at game's end and got a good look, a three-pointer that would have been the game winner, but it rimmed out. But, yes, the Person-Webb/Outlaw-Hicks showdown should be a good one on Friday (but I'll be at Orange-Jordan).
