Panther Creek High School announced the selection of a new girls lacrosse coach on Thursday morning.
Allison DuChon has been hired to lead the girls lacrosse program at the school, according to Athletic Director L.J. Hepp.
DuChon is from Columbia, Md., where she was a four-year player at Hammond High School. She was the team captain and most valuable player her senior year.
After high school, DuChon played lacrosse at East Carolina University. She served as the team captain of the Pirates' team, and in 2012 she was a 2nd Team All-Conference selection in the Mid-Atlantic Women's Lacrosse League.
"We are excited to hire a head women's lacrosse coach with a great deal of playing experience in the sport," Hepp said. "As interest and participating in women's lacrosse has continued to grow in our community, we felt that it was important to bring on a coach with a solid lacrosse background."
Hepp believes DuChon will be able to lead the program to success.
"Coach DuChon has the ability to relate to our girls, improve their skill set, and build a team," he said. "She is passionate about having a positive impact on student-athletes. We are fortunate to add her to our coaching staff."
The girls lacrosse season in North Carolina begins in the spring.
