Orange County advanced Friday night in the 3-A NCHSAA football playoffs with a one-point, 14-13 victory over Eastern Alamance.
The Panthers (10-2) will face top seed, undefeated Havelock next week in the state semifinals.
In the first quarter, Orange converted a Nick Shultz interception into 7 points. Shultx picked off Josh Long's pass at midfield. Orange teammate Sean Motley completed his ensuing pass to Jalen Pttiman who hustles 52 yards to the end zone for the 7-0 lead.
The Panthers held Eastern Alamance scoreless until the final minute of the half, when Kye Canodle kicked a 35-yard field goal to put the Eagles on the board, 7-3.
In the third, Eastern Alamance backed the Pittman-Motley duo into the end zone. They can't avoid the safety and the margin is narrowed to 7-5.
The Eagles kept the momentum going into the fourth, when Josh Jurgavich scored a touchdown and saw his team tack on two. Eastern Alamance led 13-7.
But Orange was not done. Motley made magic with his feet on a broken play, rushing in for the TD and the 14-13 lead.
