Tarboro, N.C. — The Tarboro Vikings roared out of the gate Friday in the Class 2-A NCHSAA football playoffs against Northeastern starting with the kickoff.
Quentin Roberson disappeared behind his blockers then all of the sudden popped out at the 18.
Then it was Travonne Marshall on the other side. He slipped in for the touchdown plus an extra two, and it was a quick 8-0 lead for the Vikings.
Northeastern did not get discouraged that quickly. They answered with a nice kickoff return of their own, breaking through the defense. The return got the Eagles to the 18, but they would settle for a field goal instead of 6.
There was no such settling for the Vikings.
Radja Bobbitt took off, in a foot race, for another quick Tarboro TD.
Bobbitt had the Eagles' number, knowing right where to go to find daylight all night.
When he took a breather, Quentin Roberson took the honors. He scored another six and it was 30 to 3 Tarboro.
The Eagles would manage a nice drive, down to the Viking 5. With a scramble and a toss they scored to make it 30-10, still in the first half.
