Many North Carolina High School Athletic Association football officials don’t just call high school games, according to a survey recently done by Mark Dreibelbis, assistant commissioner and supervisor of officials of the NCHSAA.
Many of them are active—and excel—at the collegiate level, while staying involved with NCHSAA football.
Over 75 officials who work NCHSAA games are also working NCAA regular season games. In addition, NCHSAA officials were involved in 29 playoff games in either NCAA Division II or Division III.
The ACC championship game included two NCHSAA officials, and the CIAA championship game assignments included three. The Pioneer Bowl, the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, and the BBVA Compass Bowl included NCHSAA-registered officials.
NCHSAA officials worked in the first three rounds of the Football Championship Series playoffs in NCAA Division I as well as a semifinal contest and the FCS National Championship, and two NCHSAA officials had the privilege of working the Sugar Bowl.
