Charlottesville, Va. Miller School's "Big 3" of Isaac Copeland, Tony Washington and Travis Hester combined for 52 points to lead the Mavericks (6-3) to victory in the fifth-place game of the Shavlik Randolph Foundation portion of the 2012 Holiday Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Washington and Copeland scored 18 and 17 points, respectively -- along with 10 and 11 rebounds, respectively -- while five 3-pointers from Hester helped the Mavericks to the fifth-place.

"We're happy to get the win in our third game in three days," Miller coach Scott Willard said. "We had runs there where we looked like a very good team."

Apex (7-6) was led by 24 points and 8 rebounds from T.J. Evans, 17 points from Malik Williams and 13 from Ian Boyd. The Cougars trailed 50-41 entering the final frame but had an opportunity in the waning moments to send the game to overtime.

"We are disappointed we didn't come out on top," Apex coach David Neal said. "I think we competed as hard as we have all season against a very, very good basketball team."
