— Millbrook High School's Dazia Powell will play college basketball in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

According to Millbrook girls basketball coach Chris East, Powell verbally committed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Friday.

Powell had previously committed to Old Dominion, but she received a release from the school after coach Karen Barefoot left for UNC-Wilmington.

A member of the Class of 2017, Powell averaged 13 points per game this past season, helping the Wildcats to a 28-4 record and a Cap 8 Conference championship. The Wildcats also played in the regional championship in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-A state playoffs.

Powell was a member of the 2016 state championship team, which posted an overall record of 30-2.
