Middle Creek downed visiting Rocky Mount, 33-15

The Mustangs started off strong against the Gryphons, notching a safety on a blocked punt in the first quarter.

Andrew Ihle then found Brandon Wilson for a 33 yard score to extend the lead to 9-0. Rocky Mount tied it up with a field goal and a Jaquan Lynch 80 yard touchdown pass with a missed extra point.

Middle Creek retook the lead, 16-9 after a 71 yard touchdown reception by Rasheed Martin from Andrew Ihle.

Ihle then gifted Rocky Mount with a pick-six that would've tied the game had it not been for another missed extra point by the Gryphons. The Mustangs took a 16-15 lead into the half.

Middle Creek then scored 17 unanswered behind two Ihle touchdown runs and a field goal for good measure to put this one out of reach.

The Mustangs host Heritage next week at 7:00 pm. Rocky Mount travels to D.H. Conley in Week 2 at 7:00 pm.
