RE: Ricky Council
You guys must be Northern fans because I thought he was an OK player on a OK team. ACC caliber no! In fact why is he being compared to the Outlaw kid! I thought the Outlaw kid was OK as well!
RE: Ricky Council
Ricky Council in my humble opinion is a mid major player, but it doesn't really matter if he is low major, mid major or high major. Less than 3% of all high school seniors each year receive D1 Scholarships. So if he receives a full ride to any D1 school he is tremendously beating the odds and should be applauded. Good luck to him.
RE: Ricky Council
You guys have got to be kidding ACC player I do not think so. He is a good player but he does not have a complete game. Watched him play since middle school and he has gotten better but lets get real he may get to a D1 school but not ACC well not on a blue blood ACC team. In the city of Durham I think it's better for kids to go to private schools its been a while since a durham kid earned a major scholarship. This is not charlotte where kids can stay in public schools and actually get a good scholarship. Great kid though will do well wherever he goes.
RE: Ricky Council
Why is it a crime for students to go to the school that they are assigned to and excel in sports at that particular school?
RE: Ricky Council
I had the opportunity to catch 3 Northern games this year I agree with @holtgkevin on Council not being a complete player. In all 3 games I wanted to see more from him. Yes no doubt he can shoot however in each game they were out rebounded. Council is one of the taller players on his team, I would like to have seen him get in there and fight, go after some rebounds, block some shots. I am hoping he gets to come back as a senior next season and show what he can do on both ends of the court. That is if he is eligible, I know he aged out his eight grade year so it would seem impossible that this would go away in high school.
@hsfootballraleigh, you mentioned you knew the whole family maybe you can answer the age-old question. Is he too old to play at Northern next year or not, and if not what really happened his eight grade year. Either way I wish Council the best going forth.
RE: Ricky Council
I overexaggerated his caliber, but ballingdays he definitely should be elgible, either way he'll find a way to play college. I remember seeing him dunk as a 13 year old.
RE: Ricky Council
That is good to know because him coming back to Northern to go along with the remaining young talent there should make for a strong nucleus. No doubt he will play college ball somewhere.
RE: Ricky Council
if he aged out in the eight grade, then he was 15 in the 8th grade.
RE: Ricky Council
He did age out according to one of the assistant coaches, however that is the question.
RE: Ricky Council
If this is true then that really sucks. Regardless Northern has many ballers but if he can doesnt make the birthday cut-off best of luck.
