PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

Well its that time of the year again. The season will be starting in a couple of weeks.

ROLL CALL......real recruiter, 1087lee, derikmg, utlimatefan69, trianglehoopsfan03, roscoebass30, lethemplay, coachk2, cbumphus, mthompson, and everybody else! What are your thoughts? Final standing predictions? Top players? Key matchups?

Here's what I see.
1. PHS
2. NHS (tie)
2. HHS (tie)
3. ECHS
4. JHS
5. RHS 5. SHS

1. PHS returns the POTY in Outlaw with a great supporting cast and coach Daucus(sp). The only question is how much will they miss the defensive presence of Stephens? 2. NHS and HHS are a toss up.However the edge goes to NHS. They have the only real challenger to Outlaw for POTY IMHO in Ricky Council. Strong coaching with kids that just play hard. They will be young though. 2. HHS young, but experirnced. They only lost two seniors from last year. Athletic big Darian Allen will be playing for another school this year. The new coaching staff surprised lots of people last year. So the question for them, is who will lead them on the floor? 3. ECHS always has coaching and kids that are going to run their stuff. This year they have some key transfers to help along the way. 4. JHS will be exciting, I hope. Very interested in seeing kids moved up from JV. Looking forward to the play of So. PG Mike Lee. Hopefully big Jared Hendryx will get more PT this year. Didn't even know the kid could play until this summer. Saw him in Charlotte. Dominates! Youtube him! 5. RHS has the length, but they play soft. However they have a very nice incoming PG, Justice Kithcart! The coach is new. However he isn't new to the program, which gives them the edge over SHS. Slightly. 6. SHS has a new coach. The edge went to RHS coach because he was with the boys already. SHS's coach was with the SHS girls last year. But don't sleep, his girls made a run that no one expected. He may surprise people like the HHS coaches did last year. The underdog always has fight! #motivation

RE: PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

You clearly have your sports mixed up. These rankings would make more since for football rather than basketball. HHS should be no where near the top in the rankings. Not only did they loose their big body in Josh McNeil but they also lost one of their only potential college athletes in Darian Allen. JHS finished 3rd in the Conference last year and was one of the only teams to stop Person and their POTY Outlaw so I don't know how they ended up all the way at the bottom. This is going to be an interesting season and I'm sure your predictions are going to be completely wrong.

RE: PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

Maybe wrong. Maybe not. Just predictions. HHS did lose Josh, but I don't think it will matter much. He was hot for the month of January, no doubt. That's as far as you can take it. He had a four game stretch where he looked like he could compete for POTY. It started with the RHS game, then ECHS, NHS, and SHS. Then he was humbled again by PHS. He showed up again for the second meeting with RHS. He hardly played before January and he didn't play in the final game he suited up for, then he quit. They won 5 of their 6 remaining games without him. Darian will be missed but it won't be a big lost either. Darian's playing time was very limited near the end of the season as well. This may have been a factor in him not returning to the team.

As far as JHS I thought I had them in the mix of the middle. There are seven teams and I have them 4th. Look again I have two ties, which means a toss up for 2nd and 5th. I just don't see an argument for JHS. The best returning guard is a sophomore, which could be a good thing. However the best big man hardly gets any pt. They did place third last year, with a lot of parody in the conference. They also lost to everyone at least once with the exception of RHS.

But let's not ponder on last year. I made my predictions and arguments based on my knowledge of this year's squads based on the returning players and games I saw last year. If you have an argument for JHS I would love to read it.

How do you see the conference finishing? JHS on top or near? HHS at the bottom or near? You sound like JHS fan. Or are you just a HHS hater? Just kidding, but I really want your opinion on the final standings, for all the teams. Thanks for responding. I sincerely mean that. I really enjoyed this thread last year. No matter how many times I have to eat crow or feed it. Hopefully I get to do more feeding this year. We do agree on something. This is going to be an interesting season.

RE: PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

Without a doubt HHS is going to be a good team this year. But if you do not have a post presence you can't go far. I can see them coming up third pretty easily, but Person is without a doubt a power house. They returned a lot of players including POTY Tyrone Outlaw who is truly and amazing kid. I loved watching him play. But I feel as if Jordan has the opportunity to come out on top seeing that they only graduated 3 seniors last year and 2 of them didn't even play. These kids are disciplined, experienced, and talented. They were really the only team last year able to compete with Person during the regular season. Person is a good team but they play through Tyrone too much. Once he is stopped which I know Jordan can do, there is no hope for them. I see it coming out as:

1. JHS
2. PHS
3. HHS
4. NHS
5. SHS
6. ECHS
7. RHS

RE: PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

Reasonable argument. HHS played PHS close last year too. First game was a 2 point loss, the next was 6 point loss, and of course the lone win was a 3 point win. You mentioned post presence............ why doesn't Jared Hendryx play for JHS?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!? Post play can be a problem for HHS if they don't play defense. They pressed a lot last year and it was effective. They also return a core group. If they don't beleive their own press clippings from last year and continue to work hard I don't beleive the lack of post will be a problem. Although it will be a factor, and a headache at times. I don't beleive it will a problem. I believe you are underestimating ECHS too!

RE: PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

hendryx did play. he was hurt during aau over memorial day following his sophmore year and wasn't cleared till the 1st day of practice. he wasn't close to 100% till the last 2-3 weeks. he will be the best big this year in the league

RE: PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

oh ok. I agree.........he will be one of the best! Best big for sure. Overall he will still have to compete with Council and Outlaw. I hear SHS has a 6'8" player this year. Anyone heard anything? Is this true? If so, will he be an impact player?

RE: PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

heard he is really big but can't play

RE: PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

Southern's new kid is big but not very talented. I have seen Hendryx play before his injury and I just saw him play a week or two ago. The kid is a beast. I know he can lead JHS in scoring and will be a big contender for that POTY award. Two key sleepers for Jordan this year are going to be Senior's Darien Ortiz and Willie Weeks. Both powerful guards and know the game well. Put those two along with Sophomore point guard Mike Lee and Hendryx down low, ain't nobody in the Pac-6 messing with JHS

RE: PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

1. ECHS- with the best coach in the conference and their transfers, my sleeper pick
2. HHS- they will be interesting. I don't think losing McNeil kid or the Allen kid will hurt them. I don't remember either of them impacting any game in the tournament or playoffs.
3. JHS- The Hendryx will be a nightmare for opposing teams. Not sure how he will do offensively but I am sure he will average 5 blocked shots a game.
4. PHS- OUTLAW nuff said
5. NHS- Council a good coach and long guards
6. SHS- lost a lot especially PG, not sure who will fill this void, but have big shoes to fill. the 6'8 don't fit the pressing style their coach has.. So this will be interesting
7. RHS- Biggest team in the league, nice SG in Hughes but it depends on which kids his is.. He can kill you or he can kill his team with TO and terrible decisions. Also with a new coach. It will see if he run the same stuff Ross ran.

RE: PAC 6 Basketball 12-13

I agree ECHS has an amaizing coach, but their only good transfer is senior Jake Hilkey and he couldn't even save that program. I don't care what you say HHS will never be a good team in my eyes, they have a few talented players but it's not going to work this year. Hendryx for JHS will without a doubt be a force both offensively and defensively leading his team to the PAC-6 championship. We all know Outlaw so I don't even have to speak on Person. I see Council doing good things for NHS this year. This team is disciplined and knows how to play the game. SHS is whack ever since they lost PG Evan, and RHS is the worst team in the conference. Hughes will never be a good player to me with the type of attitude he's got. He will have a very short career if he keeps it up.
