Broughton basketball

Broughton basketball

I've heard that Chris Corchiani has left Broughton and is at Ravenscroft, does anyone know if this is true?

What's the story there? Have seen some past posts questioning the coaching at broughton. Certainly not a good sign if someone with that pedigree leaves your program.

RE: Broughton basketball

Yes I have heard this is true from what I consider a reliable person. They also said that he re-classified as well. Go figure.

RE: Broughton basketball

I admire this kid for leaving his friends before his Sr. year. Tough thing to do but no doubt best thing for his future. Best decision the family could possibly make. As parents we want to put our children in the best possible postion to be happy and successful. This one is a no-brainer. Very happy for this family!

RE: Broughton basketball

Every yr u get on here and sell ravenscroft. I see a lot of good players have left the genious coach and the uppity school that is so much better than thou. Give it a rest. Let's save time this yr and only do this once...here goes: ravenscroft recruits, you respond...no they don't...nobody believes you...nobody cares except the programs that work hard to build teams only to have you guys uproot their team. If hes really such a great coach then coach the avg players and be successful sometime....cause that's what Broughton does on a yearly basis. Interesting comment u make "I admire this kid leaving his friends before his sr year". Wow.

RE: Broughton basketball

My Boy db33! Where you been bro?! I'm totally amazed. I speak as a parent that had a son leave WCPSS before his Sr. year to play at Ravenscroft. We initiated everything. Trust me-it was very hard to leave his friends but it was the greatest decision of his life. What about you? What is your motivation for posting what appears to be blind ignorance? What is your experience with this subject? Our family lived it... How about yours? As far as being an "uppity school" I wouldn't know. That's something you need to deal with. Please tell me what families you know that have been "recruited" by the school. I know of almost all of the kids dating back to Marc Campbell 2005 that have gone on to play at the next level. None were recruited. Not one. BTW-no schollies Bro. Great school. Great Coach. He gets calls all the time from parents wanting their kids to play there. Many have been elite players that didn't work out for various reasons. Ravenscroft will continue to get calls. This will not stop. He DOES NOT recruit. The phone calls will not stop. Truly nothing like it anywhere as far as preparing kids for college with or without b-ball. Once again-what's your deal? What's your experience with this? I would suggest you worry about your own program whoever that may be. Otherwise some parent will be calling that private school in North Raleigh that is so well thought of and so well respected by everyone but you. This includes college coaches across the country.(BTW-Bryant didn't leave and is back at school. Actually playing football too! Pitino wanted Gill to go to prep school. Can't argue with that.) And yes, again-I do admire any kid that would leave his friends before his SR. year. We have been there. I respect your opinion very much but you really don't know what's going on here. I guess we'll talk again next year when another good kid transfers. I look forward to it!

RE: Broughton basketball

I think the talent is definitely there also size, I mean they have one of the best point guards in the county, Devonte Graham who recently just verbally committed to App State and who is hands down a point guard with all that it takes to take his team far. They also have height and size as well, they have Sam Holmes, Chase #34, Brandon Bradshaw, that tall guy coming in Chris Brickhouse and also Jamie Rucker, now I'm thinking they can pull off a lot of upsets this year if they do well.

RE: Broughton basketball

Don't forget Mr James Hemphill who was several D-1 offers. Also, Godfried has recieved offers as well. Don't know of too many programs public or private that have 3 D-1 players on their team. I agree about Graham as he's the real deal. BHS should be one of the very best in the state this year. JV coach has been a great influence for the program as he's brought a missing sense of maturity and has had a positive effect on the kids.

RE: Broughton basketball

another one re-classified worst rule allowed. The way I look at it, a kid that re-classifies is one thats not listed in the top of his class, or he didnt do the work in his studies in the early years.

RE: Broughton basketball

Larry
I understand the feelings about reclassing. However, even if he didn't it would still be the best decision he could possibly make.

RE: Broughton basketball

This sight is yet another avenue for you to recruit. I think Broughton has had its share of D1 college players If you would say everything u said it may be believable but you screw up still trying to defend the recruiting. Just admit it once. Everyone knows it. You can't be respected continuing that lie. You may be a higher academic school than upper room or word of god but you are no better you are the same. I still say coach the average kids that actually pay the thousands of dollars one year. See if u can win with them, then we will ALL be impressed and u wont have to sell the school. And the college contacts is a result of the talented players that you convince to go there I'm still amazed at "I admire this kid for leaving his friends before his sr yr. " wow.

RE: Broughton basketball

Taken straight from Ravenscroft school website:www.ravenscroft.org

As a member of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA), Ravenscroft does not actively recruit athletes to play sports at our school. In accordance with NCISAA rules: "Coaches, teachers, administrators, other school employees or persons known to be associated with the school's athletic booster club may not initiate contact with a student-athlete to encourage him or her to attend the school. Once a student has made initial contact with the school's admissions office, then coaches or other representatives of the school may approach the student about the school's programs."
