Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

Why are the WC coaches the lowest paid in the triangle and among the worst paid in the state?

RE: Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

carybball that question is for the people at central office and the school board.

RE: Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

I am a Wake County tax payer. I also know the value of a good coach. I have to ask that question on this forum in order to solicit a response. Help a brother out

RE: Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

The problem(s) with MOST coaches are: 1. They think because they are a high school coach that they are great coaches- This could not be any further from the truth!! The majority of them got their first coaching job because they taught in the school and decided to help out since they played whatever sport when they were in HS. They have not worked there way from a developmental program on up. This is why a lot of the football teams run the same offense- they all go to the same coaches clinic and run whatever the instructor says will work. What they should do is see what they have for players and design the plays around that not set up your offense and then try to change the kids!! 2. A lot of these coaches are coaching for the money and don't care for the kids. Maybe they should coach for the love of the game and more importantly the love of the kids playing that game. Coaches need to quit being out there for themselves and be there for the kids- it is there time to shine and show what they work hard for, not for a coach to try and gain the glory he could not when he was in HS because he rode the bench!!!!

RE: Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

baldman: Good post. I agree that there as some coaches out there that don't earn their pay. However, if coaches are coaching just for the money..well they ain't real smart..lol

The coaches that are not being successful right now are the one's that are too hard headed to realize that coaching is not about them.

Sad to see this non sense

RE: Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

I agree baldmanb some coaches aren't as valuable as they think, because you have great players that perform well dont make you a great coach it just means you have a great team that make the coaches look good

RE: Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

90% of the time players win the games and 90% of the time the coach loses the game.(a) from not being prepared
(b) not knowing what to do.
(c) just cant coach

RE: Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

I don't know when this turned into coach bashing, but I will say that most coaches are not this way. For instance, take a look at a WCPSS baseball field. If you see more than a Head Varsity and a Head JV coach out there, the rest of the guys are doing it for free and for the love of the game. In fact, these are usually the better coaches....

RE: Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

Oh, and those that are being paid are being paid the same salary as when it was instituted in 1986....read 0% increase at all...exact same dollar amount...may be why bad coaches are able to stick around so long...

RE: Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

Forget about the school system funding. Money is tight all over. Coming from Georgia, the most successful coaches and programs have a active and supportive booster club. The club members are active and raise funds not only for the kids but to give the coaches a stipend. NC schools don't appear to have active, large, supportive booster clubs. If they did, I believe you would see more successful athletic programs. With success comes money. Money that can be directed to coaches stipends. I've seen it work firsthand.

RE: Wake County coaches stipends worst in the triangle

NCGator82...the state frowns upon booster clubs paying coaching stipends. Most counties ban the practice. There are all kinds of pay for extra duty in the schools. The yearbook teacher in Wake gets a stipend. In Johnston county for example the strength coach gets an extra stipend. Band Directors get paid lots by Wake on par with AD's.
