PAC 6 AND GREEN HOPE

PAC 6 AND GREEN HOPE

I have sit back, watched, and listened to the concerns with Green Hope and Panther Creek being brought into the PAC 6. Do I understand the politics of it? Absolutely Not. From what I understand the schools don't have a lot of control of the situation. Keep in mind PAC 6 is losing 2 schools that aren't thrilled about the idea either. But I have heard enough about the 2 teams that Green Hope boys and girls had to play. That Person and Hillside exhibited hostility to their teams. This was posted by a doctor on a petition of reasons not to be placed in the PAC 6. In regards to the boys game in Roxboro last week. There was a article in the N&O that said 2 boys with concussions, 1 with a busted lip, 1 that was dizzy from a pick. I was at that game. The boys that hit the floor were joined by both teams on the floor playing hard basketball. Good hustle both ways. The young man with the bleeding mouth happened when he came down on a Person player trying to block a shot. He bit the Person player on the head causing him to bleed and to leave the game. Nothing intentional, just hard basketball. The Green Hope player that was dizzy created all the boos, when he cussed the Person coach in front of the fans and was not reprimanded for it. As to the hard pick, those boys had been going at it for a bit. The Person player is about twice the size of the Green Hope player. You figure that one out. You see it every night in basketball. But the Person player was called for intentional foul and the coach sit him down for a long time. Didn't see no reprimand on the other bench. And Person had a player in the air for a shot that was taken out by a Green Hope player. Nothing but a simple 2 shot foul. Person and Hillside have some very good athletes along with strong supporters as does all of the PAC 6. And I think in the girls game it was a Green Hope player that threw the punch. DON'T USE THE PAC 6 FOR YOUR SCAPEGOAT. I'm out of print characters. Have a good day!!

RE: PAC 6 AND GREEN HOPE

Shooter.......You made your first post a good one. Good job

RE: PAC 6 AND GREEN HOPE

Good post. Green Hope does not want to come to the PAC-6. They are doing all they can not to, even if it involves the kids..SMH...PEOPLE GET A LIFE!!!

RE: PAC 6 AND GREEN HOPE

I been to a lot of games between Green Hope and Jordan. Let me tell you they were some strong nasty words exchanged between the two schools. I think it will be a good fit for both. As always anybody from Cary(morrisville) thinks they are above any one else because of their economic level. They whupping will come Green Hope a dime a dozen. You had fierce rival with Jordan, created one with Hillside. Yawl in trouble!

RE: PAC 6 AND GREEN HOPE

The bottom line is, the NCHSAA is not going to change the realignment because of two basketball games. The fact that people are using that as rationalization is irrational.

Anyone who ever told you basketball is not a contact sport lied. You're supposed to play hard in the playoffs. And yes, injuries happen in basketball.

I still believe the best option from a statewide perspective is to put Green Hope and Panther Creek in the PAC 6. Having graduated from Green Hope and having grown up and lived in that area almost my entire life, I get why they'd rather stay with Cary, Apex, Middle Creek and the others. But when you look at it in the big picture, moving them to the PAC 6 makes the most sense.

I do hope ALL parties can move along from the two incidents though. Hillside & Person should leave it alone, and Green Hope should stop using it as rationalization in protesting the realignment.

RE: PAC 6 AND GREEN HOPE

I was shocked when i read the article, I have never experienced anything like that when traveling to Person for sporting events it was almost like Green Hope fans were in danger wherever they went, the gym, parking lot, bojangles lol, I know some schools are opposed to conference realignment because of reason such as travel expenses, distance, gate revenue etc but to petition because of personal safety issues that was a new one for me.

RE: PAC 6 AND GREEN HOPE

bullcityfootball,
I wouldn't go as far to say "as alaways anybody from Cary(morrisville) think they are above everyone else" What I would say is they do have a few people who think they walk on water as other towns have .... But as far as creating a nasty rivalary with GH and Hillside ...too late I think the Hornets are buzzing ....and they sting hard can't wait to see them play starting 2013....Maybe they can schedule them as an out of conference foe and play this year

RE: PAC 6 AND GREEN HOPE

I missed that comment. I don't think that's true either. Being from that area I'd like to think I don't act that way! Haha...

Hopefully this all calms down some. It's not good for high school sports. Remember, the kids at Hillside, Person and Green Hope all have at least one thing in common -- they are kids.

First, I had trouble understanding much of what you tried to say here.... but I could read enough of it to believe you've done little to reverse the stereotype with your post. In fact, you've reinforced it:
1. Cary/Morrisville people think they're above everyone
2. The solution is a "whupping" when they come back to Durham....

RE: PAC 6 AND GREEN HOPE

Well put Nick!

Just a gentle reminder Nick of an article you wrote Dec 5, 2008. We are just trying to stay in our conference not avoid another conference-just as you wrote then that it made sense for athletes to stay in their community. It is not unreasonable or hateful and it was in motion before any of the games played last week. I hope the ugliness can stop and we can let the process work in a more caring and dignified manner.
