Clayton downs Hoggard 69-64
A decent game for the Comets. They came out of the gate slow as usual, but took over in the second half. Hoggard is a very good basketball team, 21, 22, and 15(?) can shoot the daylights out of the basket. A very deep team as well. Clayton will now move on to face New Hanover at New Hanover on Friday night. I believe that New Hanover blew out the 8th seeded Middle Creek Mustangs tonight. This should be a good game come Friday night.

Got to give it to Middle Creek, they came to play tonight. It was very close until the 4th quarter. The point guard for middle creek will be playing after high school. That guy can play!

Jon Moore is an alright player, more of a football guy...Quentin Ray is a low major, AT BEST, starter...They dont really have much else...Was hoping they would give more of a showing, but in actuality they aren't awesome...Hoggard the same, not really a great team. Hoggard however has one of the better home court advantages (a lot like Person in Durham)...Clayton will have the best player on the court every game they play in the East division. That single aspect will go a long way. ONE player can make a difference in ONE game...Excited to see the NH/Clayton score Friday night...

One player cant beat 5 other players. Sorry but if you telling me that your special kid from Clayton is going to take on New hanover by himself, then you dont know basketball. Oh, he will get his points but it wont be enough to beat New Hanover.

Have you seen Allen #5 for Hanover. You may want to reconsider that best player on the court business. Allen makes everybody better for the Cats. He locked down #4 for Middle Creek in the second half last night.

First of all NO Comet fan has come right out said that they are going to beat New Hanover. However on another topic "new hanover fan" came out and said that Hoggard was basically going to destroy the Comets and would face New Hanover in the third round. Well, guess what, you were wrong there. The Comets are good and they have become real good since that first game. There will be a different team making the trip down I40. The results could be the same as the first meeting or you all could get a shock on Friday night. Just don't underestimate us New Hanover Fan. Good luck to you all on Friday night. It will be a good game.
