TEACHEY, N.C. — The winningest prep football coach in North Carolina history has died.

Dean Vinson of Padgett Funeral Home in Wallace says Coach Jack Holley died Monday at his home in Teachey. He was 74.

Holley had 412 victories in nearly five decades of coaching at several High Schools, including Wallace-Rose Hill, South Columbus and Tabor City. He won a private-schools state title at Harrells Christian in 2008 before retiring in 2011.

He was a member of sports hall of fames for both Guilford College and Wilmington.

Holley is survived by his wife, Judith, two daughters, a son, seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. His son, Battle, is head football coach at East Duplin.

His funeral is set for 6 p.m. Friday at Thell B. Overman Field, Legion Stadium, in Wallace.
