Leesville holds on to beat Wakefield, 20-13

Leesville held on to beat Wakefield Friday night, 20-13.

The Pride took an early 3-0 lead after their first drive of the game lead to a short field goal. Wakefield then tied it at three in 2nd quarter on a short field goal of their own. Leesville continued the field goal train nailing a chip shot from 18 yards for a 6-3 lead. The Pride's Landon Choboy scored the first touchdown of the game on a short reception late in the second quarter. The 13-3 Leesville lead held leading into halftime.

Wakefield charged back in the third as Trexler Ivey called his own number in scoring the first touchdown for the visitors. A short Wolverine field goal would tie the score at 13 heading into the fourth. Late game heroics by Leesville's David Sohn gave the Pride the 20-13 lead. His long, late run was the difference as Leesville held on to win their home and season opener. Leesville travels to Panther Creek in Week 2 at 7:00 pm. Wakefield will host Millbrook next Friday night at 7:00 pm.
