Lee County's Jory Perkins headed to NC State

— Lee County High School quarterback Jory Perkins will play college football at North Carolina State University this fall.

According to the coaching staff at Lee County, Perkins has accepted an invitation to join the Wolfpack as a preferred walk-on.

Perkins completed 110-of-224 passes for 1,591 yards and 14 touchdowns last season for the Yellow Jackets. He also recorded 121 rushing yards on 26 attempts, helping Lee County to a 12-2 overall record and an appearance in the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-AA state playoffs.

In addition to playing football, Perkins plays basketball and golf at Lee County. He was a recent winner of the Tom Suiter Extra Effort Award, an award given by WRAL-TV to student-athletes who excel in sports, in the classroom and are involved in the community.
