Terry Sanford handles Fuquay-Varina, 35-19

Terry Sanford spoiled Fuquay-Varina's home opener defeating the Bengals 35-19 Friday night.

Fuquay opened the scoring with a 12 play, 75 yard drive that ended in a five-yard run from Chris Canada.

The 6-0 lead didn't last long for the home team as Terry Sanford's Christian Jayne scored on a 59 yard touchdown run giving the Bulldogs a 7-6 lead. Garrett Elliot would help increase the lead for the visitors as he took an interception 37 yards to the house for the 14-6 lead.

Fuquay responded with a 56 yard touchdown run from Tyrus Townsend bringing the Terry Sanford lead to 14-12 after the failed two-point conversion.

Christian Jayne's eight yard touchdown pass to Garrett Elliot extended the Bulldog lead to 21-12 at the half.

After another Bulldog score, Christian Jayne found brother Andrew for a 37 yard touchdown making the Terry Sanford cushion 35-12 as the third quarter came to a close.

Fuquay's David Honeycutt added a late 1 yard run making the final 35-19.

Fuquay-Varina hosts Cary next Friday night at 7:00 pm. Terry Sanford travels to Jack Britt in Week 2 Friday night at 7:30 pm.
