Wednesday's teams to watch:

Garner, a tournament champion in 2011, begins Wednesday's slate of games facing Goldsboro at 12:40 p.m.

The host Cary Academy girls tip off the eight-team tournament at 2 p.m. against Hillside.

In the evening, home team Broughton faces a quick challenge against powerful Person County, a team that features senior Tyrone Outlaw Jr. Outlaw,  the  reigning PAC 6 Player of the Year who has committed to play at UNC-Greensboro next season. The Caps and Rockets meet at 5:40 p.m.

The nightcap of the girls tournament pits East Wake against defending champions Myers Park out of Charlotte.

Person's only two losses this season have come against J.F. Webb (8-0), which makes its tournament debut Wednesday at 7:20 p.m. against Clinton.

Wednesday's top players:

Person County senior Tyrone Outlaw Jr. and two of his teammates have a legacy to uphold. They represent the Rockets first Holiday Invitational appearance since 1994 â€“ a year in which each of the trio had a father on the Person team.

Webb senior forward Isaiah Hicks has committed to the Tar Heels. UNC fans will get to preview his talents beginning with a game against Clinton.

Glad to see Leesville participating in this event. Back in the day, Leesville was a very, very good team. Go Pride!
