Heritage junior DL Joe Kane commits to Virginia Tech

— Heritage junior defensive lineman has officially shut down his recruitment after announcing Thursday that he will continue his football and academic career at Virginia Tech.

The 2016 CAP 8 Conference Defensive Player of the Year also held offers from Appalachian State, UNC-Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Cornell, Elon, Furman, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Jacksonville, UMass, Old Dominion, Syracuse Virginia Military Institute and Wofford.

Kane led the conference and ranked ninth in North Carolina with 19.5 sacks last season. He also tallied 85 tackles – 47.5 for loss – one forced fumble and one safety last season.
