Heritage downs Middle Creek in Bobby Murray, 3-1

Wake Forest, N.C. — Heritage's baseball team used three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on Friday night to defeat Middle Creek, 3-1.
The win in the Bobby Murray Chevrolet High School Baseball Invitational was a bounce-back victory for the Huskies after a fifth inning meltdown against West Johnston on Thursday night.
With the game scoreless in the top of the fourth inning, Middle Creek had runners in scoring position on second and third with two outs, but a fly out by Ryan Sholar ended the inning for the Mustangs without anyone reaching home.
The same would not be said for Heritage in the bottom of the fourth.
A single to left field by Trent Harris allowed Thayer Thomas to score the first run of the game with one out in the inning. Heritage still had Drake Thomas on second base and Harris on first base too.
That's when a triple to right field by Max Ruskie scored Drake Thomas and Harris, pushing the Husky lead to 3-0 at the end of the fourth inning.
Middle Creek managed to get on the board when Jake Forte reached home on a wild pitch by Harris, but that was the only score of the game for the Mustangs.
Heritage moves to 11-4 on the season with the win, while Middle Creek falls to 10-6. Heritage will face Rolesville in the final game of the Bobby Murray Invitational on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Millbrook. Middle Creek's last game in the tournament will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Millbrook against Broughton.
