Heritage comes back to stun Broughton
Posted February 9, 2013
Broughton appeared to be in control early against Heritage, but looks can be deceiving.
In their first ever senior night, the Huskies pulled off a major upset, knocking off Broughton, 40-38.
After the first quarter, Broughton led Heritage 16-5. The Caps were up 16-2 before a buzzer-beater to end the quarter made it 16-5.
The Husky comeback began in the second quarter as Heritage outscored Broughton 15-12. The Caps led 28-20 at the break.
Broughton had a problem on offense in the second half, only scoring 10 second half points, and that opened the door for an upset.
Heritage scored 12 points in the third quarter, then outscored Broughton 8-3 in the fourth quarter.
Gershom Ejoni tipped the ball into the hoop with two minutes left to tie the game at 38-38, then Demetri Vinson hit the go-ahead basket with 3.7 seconds left.
Devonte Graham missed a runner in the lane at the buzzer that would have tied the game.
