— Kendrick Hall will not return as the boys basketball coach at Southern Durham High School next season.

Hall said on Tuesday that he has resigned as the boys basketball coach to pursue other coaching opportunities. He said his ultimate goal is to coach in college.

Hall began his coaching career at Southern Durham as the girls basketball coach during the 2011-2012 school year, leading the Spartans to a 22-5 record and the third round of the state playoffs.

The very next year, Hall was named the boys basketball coach. In his five seasons as the boys basketball coach at Southern Durham, Hall's teams posted a combined record of 81-47. During the 2015-2016 school year, Southern Durham made a run to the 3A regional semifinals.

Last season, the Spartans posted a 19-8 overall record and made it to the second round of the state playoffs.

Southern Durham will be a member of the Big Eight 3-A Conference again next season.
