Green Level: A look at Wake County's next new high school

Posted May 6

If it seems that a new high school opens in Wake County every few years, well, that's because a new high school opens in Wake County every few years.

The next new high school will open just down the street from Green Hope High School and Panther Creek High School.

Green Level High School is located on Roberts Road in Cary. It's a 322,888 square foot, four-story high school with a capacity of 2,262 students.

The school building will be ready for students this fall, but it won't be for Green Level. Instead, Apex High School will move its students and staff to Green Level this fall while its school is renovated. Apex will stay at Green Level through the 2018-2019 school year, and Green Level will open up in the fall of 2019 with 9th and 10th grades.

Green Level will add 11th grade students in the fall of 2020. Seniors will be added in the fall of 2021.

According to Wake County Schools, Green Level High School features a gymnasium that seats 2,300 people and a football stadium that seats 2,500 people. There is also a softball field, baseball field, practice field, tennis courts and a sand volleyball court.

As a newly licensed drone pilot, I was itching to use it, so I drove over to Green Level and put the drone up over the athletic facilities. Check out the video for a birds eye view of the campus. Obviously, the indoor facilities can't be seen from the drone video.
