Garner hammers Clayton in GNRC semifinals, 99-69

Garner, N.C. — Garner started Tuesday night's game against Clayton with a 10-0 run, setting the tone early for what was to come.
The Trojans saw every player on the roster score as they advanced to the Greater Neuse River Conference tournament championship with a 99-69 win over Clayton.
Demetric Horton scored eight points in the first quarter and Trayvon Ferrell added seven more as Garner took a 25-15 lead going into the second quarter.
That run continued in the second quarter.
Keion White led the Trojans in the second quarter with eight points and Ferrell added five more as Garner outscored Clayton 23-14 in the second quarter to take a 48-29 halftime lead.
It was the duo of Alex Reed and Kenyon Burt who put the game away for Garner in the third quarter. Both players scored eight points in the third quarter to put Garner up 72-48.
Reed led Garner in scoring with 16 points. Ferrell scored 12 points, and Burt and Omari Harris each scored 10 points.
Martavis McLamb led Clayton in scoring with 21 points, leading all scorers in the game. MaCaleb Robertson added 16 points for the Comets and Elijah Bradshaw scored 10 points.
Garner will face Knightdale in the conference tournament championship game at 8 p.m. on Thursday at Campbell University.
