East Bladen, the No. 5 seed in the 2A Mideast pod of the NCHSAA football playoffs, continued a surprising post-season run Friday with a 56-48 win over host Carrboro.
The scoring came fast and furious from the start. East Bladen led 42-14 at the half.
Carrboro tried to mount a comeback in the third.
Derek Bryant hit Nassar Omar on a screen pass and Omar plowed 53 yards to pay dirt. East Bladen still had the Jaguars doubled up, 42-21.
Later in the third, DeAndre White took a handoff from the Eagles 4-yard line up the middle for another Carrboro TD.
The Jaguars trailed by 20 entering the final frame but continued to close the gap.
White rushed in from the three to cut the lead to 48-34.
East Bladen hangs on and will face Tarboro in the state semi-final.
