The 9-3 Jaguars beat 5-6 Whiteville 55-33 in the first round of the 2A NCHSAA football playoffs.
In the first quarter, it was tied at 6 when Whiteville looked to take the lead. From their own 46 quarterback Matt Merritt went deep to Kwamaine Rose and the 14-6 lead.
Carrboro answered right back. From the Wolfpack two, Terrell Farrar took the handoff in for the touchdown. The game was tied at 14-14.
In the second quarter, it was 17-14 Whiteville. Carrboro went for the lead on a Farrar one-yard rush for a touchdown. The Jags took the 20-17 lead.
With time running out in the first half Whiteville's Fisher Stanley tied it up with a 27-yard field goal. It was 20-20 at the half but after a crazy offensive second half Carrboro came out on top 55-33.
Carrboro moves on as 3rd seed in the Mideast pod in the 2A classification. Carrboro meets2 seed Fairmont in the second round.
