Lightning suspended Friday's football game between Wake Forest-Rolesville and Broughton, and when the game was picked up in the second quarter on Monday afternoon, it was all Wake Forest-Rolesville.
The Cougars scored 17 straight points before the Capitals got on the board, as Wake Forest-Rolesville remained undefeated 31-21.
Wake Forest-Rolesville got off to an early lead Friday night on a Petey Williams score that was set up by a 33-yard run from Bryce Love.
The Cougars extended their lead to 14-0 as Ashawine Russell scored from six yards out in the second quarter.
Williams led the Cougars on Monday. A 13-yard touchdown run in the third quarter put Wake Forest-Rolesville up 21-7, then on the next Cougar drive Williams scored again to push the score to 28-7.
Drew Alvarez drilled a short field goal in the fourth quarter, extending the lead to 31-7.
Broughton scored two touchdowns in the final minutes to close the game to just ten points, but the Cougars already had a comfortable lead.
Broughton (1-6, 1-2 Cap 8) hosts Enloe next week. Wake Forest-Rolesville (7-0, 3-0) travels to Wakefield.
