The Millbrook Wildcats edged the East Wake Warriors Friday night, 29-28, for their first win of the season.
In the first quarter, East Wake's Trent Evans threw deep from mid-field, hitting Alex Cowan at the Millbrook 15-yard line. Two plays later, from the Millbrook two, DeMonte Reem rushes up the middle for an East Wake touchdown.
Millbrook tied it up on the ensuing drive. Lamar Harris scrambled from the East Wake 22 untouched for the TD.
Right before the half, it was Evans again, over the middle to Cowan. Cowan goes 37 yards for the score and the 14-7 East Wake lead.
Millbrook (1-2, 0-0 Cap 8) will host Northern Durham next week, while East Wake (0-3, 0-0 Greater Neuse) will travel to Wakefield.
