Tarboro went up early and coasted to an opening week win Friday, 42-26, over visiting Nash Central.
Already leading 7-0, Quentin Roberson found the endzone to give Tarboro a 13-0 lead.
Nash Central cut the lead to 13-6 on a Khalil Macklin touchdown run, but the story would be two-to-one scoring all night.
Tarboro got a score from Radja Bobbitt on an option pitch from Aaron Moore to cap a 52-yard drive and give the Vikings a 20-6 lead. Moore scored from 26 yards out later in the game to stretch the Tarboro lead to 27-12.
As the game moved to the fourth quarter, Roberson scored again, this time from 31 yards out to stretch the Vikings lead to 34-18.
With 4:20 left in the game, Nash Central began mounting a comeback by cutting the lead to 34-26, but it was too little, too late.
Next Friday the Bulldogs (0-1, 0-0 Big East) head to Smithfield-Selma and the Vikings (1-0, 0-0 Eastern Plains) host Washington.
