Bartlett Yancey out-paces Granville Central 28-14

The Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers went to Granville Central on Friday and upended the Panthers in a non-conference game.

Granville Central (1-1, 0-0 2A/Carolina 12) got on the board first on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Daron Smith to Tevin Hester early in the first quarter.

On their next offensive possession, the Panthers' Jayshawn Pickett fumbled recovered by Bartlett Yancey's Miles Preston. That led to a 9-yard touchdown run by Darreal Hamlett to bring the score to 7-6 after a failed conversion.

The Buccaneers (1-1, 0-0 2A/Mid State) did not need the conversion as their offense turned the scoreboard lights plenty in a 28-14 win.

Bartlett Yancey will play next week at Rockingham County (1-0, 0-0 3A/Mid State) while Granville Central will make a trip to Red Springs(1-0, 0-0 1A/Three Rivers).
