Hoggard traveled away from the coast and threat of Hurricane Irene to face Seventy-First a day early.
On Thursday, the Vikings (4A Mideastern) went to Falcons (0-2, 0-0 4A Mid South) territory as Seventy-First head coach Robert Paroli looked to notch his 400th career win.
The Falcons scored on their opening drive after a long punt return and a two-point conversion. Hoggard answered right back.
On their opening drive, the Vikings' Tevin Jackson returned the kick for a touchdown. The Falcons had the 8-7 lead but it didn't last long.
With a little over two minutes left in the first Hoggard quarterback Christian Poveromo found Ryan Edmonds in the endzone for 7 more.
In the second quarter, a Seventy-First fumble and Hoggard recovery set up a Poveromo to Michael Williams touchdown.
Coach Paroli will have to wait another week to attempt 400 as Hoggard took the 27-14.
Hoggard's next game will be on Sept. 2 vs. Purnell Swett, the Falcons will be at Hoke County.
